If you find yourself in need of a little roster refreshing for the first round of your fantasy football playoffs, take a look at our “Pick Them Up” list for recommendations at each position.
Jason Campbell (Oakland Raiders)
With Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) now out for the season, Campbell has once again taken over as the Raiders’ starting quarterback.
In Week 13 against the San Diego Chargers, Campbell went 10-for-16 for 117 yards with one touchdown along with 37 rushing yards and a touchdown in the game.
Over the next two weeks, Oakland takes on two defenses that have allowed among the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos, so Campbell could be a major asset to fantasy owners that have a need as the playoffs start.
Owners in two-quarterback leagues will definitely want to consider adding him.
James Starks (Green Bay Packers)
Starks came out of nowhere to get 18 carries for 73 yards in 4 Brett Favre White jersey
Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers and easily lead the Packers in both categories.
With Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn unlikely to make a consistent impact this season, Starks looks to be the primary ball carrier for Green Bay. Since the Packers’ offense is so prolific, any player that emerges as a major part of the offense is immediately worth fantasy consideration. Over the next two weeks, Green Bay takes on the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots, who both rank in the bottom part of the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs.
Week 16 brings a fairly tough matchup against the New York Giants, but Starks is widely available (six percent ownership in Yahoo!) and can be a major fantasy asset over the next couple of weeks as long as he can continue to see a lot of playing time.
Anthony Armstrong (Washington Redskins)
Armstrong had a career-high six receptions (on 10 targets) for 97 yards and a touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 13.
With the injuries the Redskins have at running back and with wide receiver Santana Moss looking limited by a hamstring injury, he could emerge as a primary target in a pass-happy Washington offense.
After a fairly tough matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14, Armstrong gets a couple of favorable matchups against the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15 and 16 respectively.
He looks to be a legit deep threat at minimum and could be a real under the radar option in 12-team leagues.
He should be available in over 90 percent of Jets 6 Sanchez AFL50th jersey
Yahoo! leagues and if you have the roster space, go ahead and grab your hands on the emerging wideout.
Ed Dickson (Baltimore Ravens)
With Ravens’ starting tight end Todd Heap leaving Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers after the game’s first play with a hamstring injury, the door was open for Dickson to see playing time. He had three catches for 21 yards in the game, while being targeted seven times.
Heap has already been ruled out in Week 14 and Dickson will be able to take advantage of the Ravens' favorable matchup.
The Texans entered Week 13 allowing league highs in catches (70) and yards (811) to opposing tight ends, along with a second-most in the league seven touchdowns to the position.
Dickson should be available in all fantasy leagues and makes for a sneaky play in Week 14 on Monday Night Football.
